Fun Facts
Dostana was the fourth highest grossing film of 1980.
It was the first film to be produced by Yash Johar, the father of Karan Johar (who directed films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai).
Mohammed Rafi passed away on July 31, 1980, about eleven weeks before the film was released in India.
Although Dostana means “Friendship” and portrays the friendship between the two characters shown singing the song, it is rumoured that the actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha, were not on talking terms at the time.
