Fun Facts

This song is one of the early gems that propelled Lata Mangeshkar into superstardom. She became known as the “Nightingale of India”.

Raj Kapoor, who directed and starred in Barsaat, used music as a central narrative tool. This song, in particular, was used to express inner emotions rather than just entertain, a technique that became a hallmark of his filmmaking

The film was the first major collaboration between Shankar and Jaikishan. Their music became an instant hit and the success of Barsaat established them as one of Bollywood’s most iconic music duos.

The massive success of Barsaat allowed Raj Kapoor to purchase land and establish RK Studios in 1950. The famous RK logo which featured a violinist holding a woman was inspired by a poster from the film.
